Welcome, new editor! We're very glad you've joined us. Here are pointers for a quick start. Also, when you get a chance, please read The Editor Role. You can look at Getting Started for other helpful introductory pages. It is essential for you as an editor to join the Citizendium-Editors (broadcast) mailing list in order to stay abreast of editor-related issues, as well as the mailing list(s) that concern your particular interests. It is also important, for project-wide matters, to join the Citizendium-L (broadcast) mailing list. You can test out editing in the sandbox if you'd like. If you need help to get going, the forums is one option. That's also where we discuss policy and proposals. You can ask any constable for help, too. Me, for instance! Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and thank you! We appreciate your willingness to share your expertise, and we hope to see your edits on Recent changes soon. Some ideas for contributions

Salut Celine,

A bientôt, --Daniel Mietchen 16:30, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi Celine

I see you made it! If you click on this red link, you can start your own sandbox - User:Celine Caquineau/Sandbox. If you have any questions, just feel free to go to anyone's discussion page and leave them a message. Mine is here - User Talk:D. Matt Innis. Have fun! D. Matt Innis 17:22, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

And hi from me :-)Gareth Leng 08:35, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

speedy deletions

Hi, Cecile, I'm one of the Constables who deletes things from time to time. But before I do so, I need to have a reason. So please type the reason you're requesting a speedy delete *within* the template when you post it there. Thanks! Hayford Peirce 16:38, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi Hayford, I had emailed Celine and told her how to ask for a page to be deleted. I told her about the {{speedydelete}} template, but not the comment afterward because I was going to delete it, but YOU BEAT ME TO IT AGAIN!  :-) Hey, I'm impressed that you found the {{speedydelete}} template! What Hayford means is that he needs you to type a | after the speedydelete and then give a reason. Like this: {{speedydelete|because I made this page and don't want it anymore}}. There are lots of other little things, too, that Hayford can teach you as well, so feel free to ask him when I am not here! D. Matt Innis 00:20, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
Etant discret, Hayford ne dit rien.... Hayford Peirce 03:37, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
Thanks! Do you still need a reason or it doesn't matter anymore? Celine Caquineau
That one is gone, so no reason required any more. But if you make a comment on talk pages, please sign by using four tildes. Thanks! --Daniel Mietchen 15:17, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

CZ:(U00984) Appetite and Obesity, University of Edinburgh 2009

Hi Celine, your course page CZ:(U00984) Appetite and Obesity, University of Edinburgh 2009 is now pre-formatted and supplemented with templates for the article structure (CZ:(U00984) Appetite and Obesity, University of Edinburgh 2009/Template article) and their subpages' metadata (CZ:(U00984) Appetite and Obesity, University of Edinburgh 2009/Metadata template). Please adjust the content as you see fit, also for the course's policy on collaborative editing (CZ:(U00984) Appetite and Obesity, University of Edinburgh 2009/EZnotice). With these pages set up (and CZ:(U00984) Appetite and Obesity, University of Edinburgh 2009/How to start your articles as a guideline), students can start their articles in a semi-automated manner, while it is up to you to initiate students to wiki syntax and Citizendium policy so they can start editing these pre-formatted articles. If you are not sure about any of these points, just ask again. --Daniel Mietchen 16:02, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Thanks Daniel for all your help!!! Celine Caquineau 17:33, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
You can edit CZ:(U00984) Appetite and Obesity, University of Edinburgh 2009/Template article to adapt the preloaded page content to your course. --Daniel Mietchen 18:19, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
Im confused, is the page I've got so far still a template? and do I still need to have links to create student articles even if I won't need more than the 8 I already got? Celine Caquineau 13:07, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
Sorry for the confusion — I had just sent you an email on these matters. The page CZ:(U00984) Appetite and Obesity, University of Edinburgh 2009/Template article is meant to be a template for the articles created by the "press this button" method, as displayed on the course page. The reason behind creating Eduzendium articles this way is that students without experience on this wiki are likely to get lost easily if they are not given examples for how to structure and format their assigned pages.
If you only need 8 articles and if you do not want to use the fancy way of starting them, that is fine. To fill the now existing ones with content or formatting examples, you will have to paste something in by hand (preferably copied from the template after you have adapted that), while the button-press method would do this automatically.
I also recommend to change the article's names such that they do not contain the course name, i.e. from U00984 Food reward to Food reward. I can help with that. --Daniel Mietchen 13:30, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
just sent you an email! but now I understand!!! I'll adapt the article template and use it to fill the articles. Strangely I better understand that way than the button press method. Im happy to do the renaming, I just don't know how to do it :-) Celine Caquineau 13:45, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
I think it's better to replace them entirely (which I just did). So please adjust the template article and then try the button pressing game. In case of problems, let me know. --Daniel Mietchen 14:05, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
Ok, Thanks!! Celine Caquineau 10:40, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
I was wondering how I can change the 'green' notice to a 'red' notice: 'article close to outside editing but comments are welcome'? Celine Caquineau 11:39, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
This way. --Daniel Mietchen 11:46, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
Thank you very much again for your help! Celine Caquineau 11:57, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Assistance, SVP

Could you look at Talk:Kerckhoffs' Principle? There is a question of the right French-English translation of something. It is not in your field, but I think you can probably answer it. Sandy Harris 02:40, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

Returning to Citizendium: an update on the project and how to get involved

Hello - some time ago you became part of the Citizendium project, but we haven't seen you around for a while. Perhaps you'd like to update your public biography or check on the progress of any pages you've edited so far.

Citizendium now has over 16,000 articles, with more than 150 approved by specialist Editors such as yourself, but our contributor numbers require a boost. We have an initiative called 'Eduzendium' that brings in students enrolled on university courses to write articles for credit, but we still need more Editors across the community to write, discuss and approve material. There are some developed Biology and Health Sciences articles that could be improved and approved, and some high-priority Biology and Health Sciences articles that we don't have yet. You can also create new articles via this guide, and contribute to some Biology or Health Sciences pages that have been recently edited here and here - or to any others on Citizendium, since you're a general Author as well as a specialist Editor. You may like to contribute to discussions in the forums, and might consider running for an elected position on the Management and Editorial Councils that oversee the project.

If you have any questions, let me know via my Talk page or by leaving a message below this one. Thank you for signing up and reading this update; I hope that you will look in on our community soon. John Stephenson 13:31, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
