Kanagawa prefecture (神奈川県 Kanagawa-ken) is an area of Japan located in the Kanto region of Honshu island. Its population was 8,830,000 in 2006. It is also considered part of the Greater Tokyo Area.
Kanagawa's capital is Yokohama (横浜市 Yokohama-shi).

- The 'Greater Tokyo Area' has several definitions and therefore names in Japanese. A common designation is 'One Metropolis, Three Prefectures' (一都三県 Itto Sanken) - i.e. Tokyo, Chiba, Kanagawa and Saitama.
