User talk:Andrew Chong
Welcome to the Citizendium! We hope you will contribute boldly and well. Here are pointers for a quick start. You'll probably want to know how to get started as an author. Just look at Getting Started for other helpful "startup" links, our help system and CZ:Home for the top menu of community pages. Be sure to stay abreast of events via the Citizendium-L (broadcast) mailing list (do join!) or via Twitter. You can test out editing in the sandbox if you'd like. If you need help to get going, the forum is one option. That's also where we discuss policy and proposals. You can ask any administrator for help, too. Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and have fun! --Larry Sanger 03:24, 31 July 2007 (CDT)
Judo and Culture of Japan
Do you think at some point you could add a brief section on judo/martial arts in Japan to the Culture of Japan article? There is a section on sport but not judo, etc. Thanks! John Stephenson 22:31, 1 August 2007 (CDT)
- Thanks for your work on this page. As you say on my Talk, there is now some overlap; I am going to have a go at integrating them later. There is obviously a bit of a problem with things like sumo, which are not just sports. John Stephenson 23:39, 2 August 2007 (CDT)
Hey, good work on all this martial arts stuff - though we don't have an overall martial arts page as yet. It strikes me you could just start a stub including links to all the pages you've created, then do more later. John Stephenson 22:11, 4 August 2007 (CDT)
- See the Martial arts talk page; no worries about involvement! John Stephenson 23:25, 5 August 2007 (CDT)
Ears being boxed
Geez, I hadn't thought about that phrase in years! But I certainly grew up hearing it all around me (I was born in 1942). I was fortunate enough never to have had it done to me, but it was a *very* current phrase at least through my childhood, into the early 1950s, let's say. When I later had kids of my own, it was in a French atmosphere, so the occasion to use it never arose. I wonder how one researches its use? Ask William Safire of the NYT, perhaps? Please join us for Biology Week!
I am giving you this personal invitation to join us this week for Biology Week!
You're a Citizendium Biology Author and we need authors as much as editors here to get involved. Did you know that there are over 200 biology authors here? Yep!
Please join us on the wiki and add or revise biology articles. Also, please let your friends and colleagues who are biologists, biology students, or naturalists, know about Biology Week and ask them to join us, too. Any way you can help make it an event would be most welcome. Think of it as a Biology Workgroup open house. Let's see if we can kick up activity a notch!
Thanks in advance! --Larry Sanger 13:00, 22 September 2008 (CDT)
