Stale Statements

Must the statements link to old position statements from previous elections? I read these and they sound stale and dated. I want to know where the candidates stand currently. Russell D. Jones 19:47, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

None of us have FINISHED making out statements, for pete's sake! Moreover, not everyone at CZ has been around since its inception. Would you please cut us a little slack? In any case, if you, or anyone else, doesn't like the quality of our statements, you have a simple option: vote for someone else. Hayford Peirce 20:36, 27 November 2011 (UTC)
Come on Hayford and snap to it! I want to read some new stuff!!  ;)
I'm not bent out of shape about it and neither should you be. I'm suggesting that maybe the link should be to a different page than your old statement (a blank page until you fill it in). I say we want to be fair to the candidates. You want to have control over your political statements; but here a link was set up to something which you may or may not have approved. Russell D. You make a good point. I'll see what I can do. D. Matt Innis 20:56, 27 November 2011 (UTC)
Wow, Russell, you were right. Most of those statements were from last election. One was even a rejection of the nomination and two were acceptances by people who haven't accepted yet. Hopefuly, I've fixed them without causing anyone more work. By the way, the ones whose history showed November 2011 edits were moved to the new "statement" page, so hopefully no-one will know the difference. Make sure I didn't make any mistakes. Thanks. D. Are you two people looking at the CORRECT page? Here is my statement as of five minutes ago: http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/CZ:EC_Election_and_Referenda_December_2011#Author_candidates_and_links_to_their_Statements I think that redirects have screwed things up and that you are looking at last year's page when you shouldn't be. Hayford Peirce 22:09, 27 November 2011 (UTC)
Yes, that's the page. I've already changed the statement page from "/Editorial Council/" to the new "/Editorial Council 2011/". I moved your statement to that page since you already updated yours. You're good. D. Matt Innis 02:50, 28 November 2011 (UTC)

Formatting

The last entry in each table is for some reason double-spaced, i.e., taking up two lines rather than one. I can't see what's causing it myself - anyone got any ideas? Anton Sweeney 00:09, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

extra lines before and after the <!--comments-->. Russell D. Jones 00:48, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
