Greetings! I have been at Citizendium since the private pilot began. I hold the roles of Assistant to the Chief Constable, author, and informally Media Assets Lead.

About me

I hold an M.Ed. in Adult Learning and Global Change from the University of British Columbia, Canada; prior, I graduated highest-awarded in my class from Florida Atlantic University Honors College with concentrations in anthropology and political science. I have numerous years international experience, dispersed through Latin America, Micronesia, and Haiti, and it has marked all I do. Professionally, I am a remedial adult educator at a community college in the United States. My pedagogy is eclectic yet with a bent for critical literacy, which Ira Shor perfectly defines as facilitating

habits of thought, reading, writing, and speaking which go beneath surface meaning, first impressions, dominant myths, official pronouncements, traditional cliches, received wisdom, and mere opinions, to understand the deep meaning, root causes, social context, ideology, and personal consequences of any action, event, object, process, organization, experience, text, subject matter, policy, mass media, or discourse.[1]

"Siren" is a Saipanese "Boonie Dog"

I plan doctoral studies and have very broad interests. Peter Cook once said, "I am specializing in the Universe and all that surrounds it."

For recreation I greatly enjoy fishing, the outdoors, and science fiction.

Contributions

Most of my contributions are in some way or another related to developing Citizendium, a good deal of them outside the wiki itself. I just don't very often have time to really bunker down and write articles—I am here, first, to help you write them. Still, I am a major contributor to:

If I show up at an article you've been working on and decide to become substantially involved with it as an author, know that I am a perfectionist and am envisioning the day when our approved articles are independently evaluated side-by-side with Britannica's and Wikipedia's.

Everything else that follows is to help me do my work on the wiki!

Acronyms
  • {{acronym}},
    • Or use {{soup}} for a rather humorous version
Note: The above two should be used with an operant from the acronym list in the form {{Acronym|NPOV}}, {{Acronym|POV}}, and so forth.
Image problems
  • {{fiximage}} - for user authored content they forgot to license.
  • {{badimage}} - use for uploader's talk page, says image will be deleted unless fixed.
  • {{badimage2}} - use if it appears image uploader may not be active. Place at article talk page where image appears.
  • {{fairuse}} - for when a contributor uploads a "fair use" image. Prods them to instead seek permission to use it or it may be deleted.
  • {{deletedimage}} - for images deleted without warning or after warning was given but with no action.
