Welcome to the Citizendium! We hope you will contribute boldly and well. Here are pointers for a quick start. You'll probably want to know how to get started as an author. Just look at Getting Started for other helpful "startup" links, our help system and CZ:Home for the top menu of community pages. Be sure to stay abreast of events via Twitter. You can test out editing in the sandbox if you'd like. If you need help to get going, the forum is one option. That's also where we discuss policy and proposals. You can ask any administrator for help, too. Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and have fun!

You can find some more information about our collaboration groups if you follow this link CZ:Workgroups. You can always ask me on my talk page or others about how to proceed or any other question you might have.

WP content

Hi, glad to have you contributing! A couple of tips: 1) For copyright reasons, any page which is an adapted version of a Wikipedia original (unless it consists only of stuff you personally wrote, down to the last ','), you have to check the "Content is from Wikipedia?" box so they get the appropriate credit link (which the GFDL requires). 2) For pages which are 100.000% your content (i.e. no need to check the box), but which also appear on Wikipedia, the {{WPAuthor}} template can be placed at the head of the talk page to verify that for copyright purposes. And again, welcome! J. Noel Chiappa 12:44, 1 June 2008 (CDT)

Hi, I hope there's no connection between i) the above note, and ii) the fact that your last edit was at the exact same time as I left it... :-( J. Noel Chiappa 07:40, 2 June 2008 (CDT)

Not a problem if you missed a few. I'm sure someone will catch them at some point. And glad to hear it was just a coincidence! J. Noel Chiappa 08:11, 2 June 2008 (CDT)

Tired?

For someone who claimed to be tired, you're sure putting in a lot more work! :-) J. Noel Chiappa 23:13, 4 June 2008 (CDT)

Taxobox

Well, we not large or organized enough yet to have a help group! I can probably help you with {{Taxobox}}. Elementary templates are pretty easy (there's a good intro page here), but Taxobox is probably not a good place to start, it's moderately complicated. Can you tell me exactly what you want it to do differently? I see the code for doing subdivisions, so it would be easy to tweak that. If you've just been copying what others did, though, {{Taxobox}} takes a very long list of possible arguments, and it's possible it's already set up to do what you want, and they aren't using it. I've added the beginnings of some documentation, including a complete list of the 'levels' (that's not the right word, if my vague memories are correct), so if you look at it now, see if it does what you want. If not, let me know, and I can tweak it for you. J. Noel Chiappa 20:13, 6 June 2008 (CDT)

And here I thought you needed help with fixing {{tl}Taxobox}}... :-) I'll put the example back in the /doc subpage for you, if that's OK? J. Noel Chiappa 22:32, 6 June 2008 (CDT)

subpages

You're welcome, and thanks for starting so many articles.

You might try the "start article with subpages" option. It will take you to the metadata page first. Don't worry, the directions are included and when you save the page, you will see links to make the talk page and then for starting the article. It is really easy once you have done it a few times. Please join us for Biology Week!

Hello,

Not that you need this reminder, but I thought I'd give you one anyway...

I am giving you this personal invitation to join us this week for Biology Week!

You're a Citizendium Biology Author and we need authors as much as editors here to get involved. Did you know that there are over 200 biology authors here? Yep!

Please join us on the wiki and add or revise biology articles. Also, please let your friends and colleagues who are biologists, biology students, or naturalists, know about Biology Week and ask them to join us, too. Any way you can help make it an event would be most welcome. Think of it as a Biology Workgroup open house. Let's see if we can kick up activity a notch!

Thanks in advance! --Larry Sanger 13:06, 22 September 2008 (CDT)
