A Germanic tribe ruled an area that included most of what is now France, that was known as the Kingdom of the Franks.
The Franks were one of many Germanic tribes who usurped control of regions of what had been the Roman Empire, after the fall of Rome. Other tribes included the Angles, Saxons, who usurped control in what is now England, and the Goths, and the Vandals.
