USS Missouri (BB-63) (the largest ship) and the battlecruiser USS Alaska (CB-1) (on the other side of the pier) are tied up at Norfolk Naval Base, Virginia circa August 1944.[1]

The USS Missouri is an Iowa-class battleship of the U.S. Navy which was active during World War II. She is famous as the vessel on whose deck the Japanese surrender was signed; she is now a museum ship at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii (U.S. state).
