New Article

Greetings...I've created this article using my previous contributions to Wikipedia. As you may have guessed, I am related to the subject. He is my grandfather's cousin and I have tried to keep the article neutral, but appreciate any help. Thanks a lot.--David Boven 16:00, 30 May 2008 (CDT)

Sorry, I just stuck a comma into the first sentence, saying that it was grammatically correct. I did this a couple hours ago but, I suppose, forgot to SAVE the damn edit. Without figuring that out, I was surprised to see the comma missing, thinking it had been purposefully removed.... Cheers! Hayford Peirce 23:26, 30 May 2008 (CDT)
No problem, Hayford. Keep up the great work.--David Boven 23:32, 30 May 2008 (CDT)

Suggestions

The Don Boven article on Wikipedia was up for a peer review recently and the following suggestions were made:

  • Can you add a couple more paragraphs to the lead?
  • Is this a reliable source? Find an alternate.
  • See if you can add a "See Also" section.
  • A model article is useful for ideas for expansion, and as a guide for style, refs, structure, etc. There are four FA articles on NBA players on Wikipedia.
  • I would see if you can find old newspapers or old magazines that covered his career for more sources. Google Books or Google Scholar or databases might also be useful. This would be library work.
  • If my math is right, he was only 41 when he retired from coaching-my guess is that the NBA and coaching did not pay as well then as they do now-what did he do from age 41 till whenever he retired again?
  • There should be a non-breaking space -   between a number and the unit of measurement. For example, instead of 95 kg, use 95 kg, which when you are editing the page, should look like: 95 kg.
  • Please ensure that the article has gone through a thorough copyediting.

I'm not sure if all of these suggestions can translate to the Citizendium page, but it ought to be a good starting point for discussion on making the article better. Are there any other suggestions?--David Boven 12:11, 10 June 2008 (CDT)

Red links

Er...please put the red links back. We like red links. They encourage us to write articles! It's all about "building the Web--Wikipedia itself was built by red links. --Larry Sanger 09:55, 19 June 2008 (CDT)

Live Article?

The status of the article was recently changed. Earlier, I had gotten my guidance here. You may want to go there to clarify things a little bit for other future editors. Just one of many bugs to be worked out of a new system, I suppose.--David Boven 19:50, 19 June 2008 (CDT)
