Male and Female columns

I think you ought to put a header on each column to this affect. *I* didn't notice it! And *THESE* days, with all the weird new names for ALL sexes, I think it is absolutely necessary to make this clear. Hayford Peirce (talk) 20:44, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

OK done. I didn't think it was necessary at first; then the list started to get out of hand... John Stephenson (talk) 14:32, 11 August 2020 (UTC)

May I simplify the instructions for putting in the definitions of Actors? (I find it IMPOSSIBLE to put line breaks in here!)

Right now, when you click on the link, this is what you get:

  • "(Delete this note, including the enclosing quotation marks, after reading.)
  • 1. In the space above, paste everything *between* the 'nowiki' tags, i.e. from '<noinc...': <noinclude>{{Subpages}}</noinclude>
  • 2. Write the definition here (maximum one sentence of 150 characters, ignoring formatting characters). Don't include the term defined in the definition itself, and start the text with a capital letter. 10-30 words are usually enough.

    • ___________________

    • I read that over for a LONG time, and it baffled me. Can I change it to:
    • "(Delete this note, including the enclosing quotation marks, after reading.)"
    • 1. In the space above write the definition (maximum one sentence of 150 characters, ignoring formatting characters). Don't include the term defined in the definition itself, and start the text with a capital letter. 5 - 15 words are usually enough.
See here. John Stephenson (talk) 10:48, 12 August 2020 (UTC)
Wow, who knew???? Thanks for the detailed explanation. No Wonder I spent an HOUR yesterday messing around with the above trying to get it to line up? But what about my Harry Wilson definition that I put in? THAT looks okay to me. But I guess you're saying that it can't then be linked anywhere else? Hayford Peirce (talk) 16:57, 12 August 2020 (UTC)
It can be linked to using e.g. {{r|Harry Wilson}}, but without <noinclude>{{subpages}}</noinclude> all the tabs, links and categories on the definition subpage disappear and the definition is uncategorised. Anyway, I may try another way to fix the instructions... John Stephenson (talk) 17:58, 12 August 2020 (UTC)
Okay, I took a look at the Harry Wilson page and THAT looks simple enough. If I can remember how to do it. Or if you can change the instructions to make them SEEM simpler.... Hayford Peirce (talk) 18:04, 12 August 2020 (UTC)
Tried again with fresh instructions... see what you think. John Stephenson (talk) 18:32, 12 August 2020 (UTC)
John, THOSE instructions are PERFECT! Very easy to understand. I used them to put a definition in for Gabby Hayes -- you might check to make sure that I did it correctly. Thanks for the help! Hayford Peirce (talk) 19:03, 12 August 2020 (UTC)
