Abstinence-only sex education is a set of curricula used in many schools which teaches that the best way to avoid unwanted pregnancies and sexually-transmitted diseases is by abstaining from sex before marriage. The amount spent on such programs has dramatically increased during the Bush administration[1], and have been widely criticised for their heavy religious content, their ineffectiveness and their misrepresentation of science.
