The '''[[Navy Grog]]''' was a popular rum-based drink served for many years at the Polynesian-themed [[Don the Beachcomber]] restaurants; it is still served in many so-called tiki restaurants and bars.  First created by Donn Beach, who almost single-handedly originated the tiki cultural fad of the 1940s and 1950s, it was one of dozens of rum concoctions that he, and later [[Trader Vic]] and numerous other imitators, sold in exotic tropical settings. Not quite as potent as the Beachcomber's more famous [[Zombie (cocktail)|Zombie]], it was, nevertheless, shown on the menu as being limited to two, or sometimes three, to a customer.
 
The word "grog" itself can refer to a variety of alcoholic beverages. It originally referred to a drink made with water and rum, which was introduced into the Royal Navy by British Vice Admiral Edward Vernon on August 21, 1740. Modern versions of the drink are often made with hot or boiling water, and sometimes include lemon juice, lime juice, cinnamon, or sugar to improve the taste. Rum with water, sugar, and nutmeg was known as Bumboo and was more popular with pirates and merchantmen.

'''[[Trinity United Church of Christ, Chicago]]''' is a predominantly [[black church]] located in south Chicago. With upwards of 10,000 members, it is the largest congregation affiliated with the [[United Church of Christ]], a predominantly white Christian denomination with roots in [[Congregationalism]], which historically stemmed from American Puritanism of the 18th century.  Although the church and its longest-serving pastor, [[Jeremiah Wright]], were not widely known outside religious circles before the [[2008 United States presidential election]], Trinity has played an important role in Chicago by providing blacks with a Christian alternative to the black nationalist groups that had headquartered in the city during the [[Black history|American civil rights era]].  Trinity marks 1961 as its formal beginning.

Featured Article: Nuclear power reconsidered

After decades of failure to slow the rising global consumption of coal, oil and gas,[1] many countries have proceeded as of 2024 to reconsider nuclear power in order to lower the demand for fossil fuels.[2] Wind and solar power alone, without large-scale storage for these intermittent sources, are unlikely to meet the world's needs for reliable energy.[3][4][5] See Figures 1 and 2 on the magnitude of the world energy challenge.

Nuclear power plants that use nuclear reactors to create electricity could provide the abundant, zero-carbon, dispatchable[6] energy needed for a low-carbon future, but not by simply building more of what we already have. New innovative designs for nuclear reactors are needed to avoid the problems of the past.

Issues Confronting the Nuclear Industry

New reactor designers have sought to address issues that have prevented the acceptance of nuclear power, including safety, waste management, weapons proliferation, and cost. This article will summarize the questions that have been raised and the criteria that have been established for evaluating these designs. Answers to these questions will be provided by the designers of these reactors in the articles on their designs. Further debate will be provided in the Discussion and the Debate Guide pages of those articles.
