Peter D. Feaver is Alexander F. Hehmeyer Professor of Political Science and Public Policy at Duke University, director of the Triangle Institute for Security Studies and a member of the board of advisors of the Center for a New American Security. He is a featured blogger and contributor at Foreign Policy, which lists him as a conservative contributor. At Duke, he lists his fields of interest as Security Studies, Civil-Military Relations and Nuclear Weapons.

He has been Special Advisor for Strategic Planning and Institutional Reform (George W. Bush Administration) and Director for Defense Policy and Arms Control (Clinton Administration on the National Security Council staff, and is a member of the Individual Ready Reserve of the United States Navy.
