Colchis [r]: From Greek mythology, it was a region to the east of the Black Sea in Asia which was the home of Aeetes and Medea and a destination of the Argonauts. It was mentioned in epic poems such as the Iliad and Odyssey by the bard Homer who told tales of adventures regarding Jason and the Golden Fleece.
