The sport of football in Uruguay is administered by the Uruguayan Football Association (Asociación Uruguaya de Fútbol; AUF). Uruguay became a member of FIFA in 1923, having been a founder member of CONMEBOL in 1916. The team hosted and won inaugural 1930 FIFA World Cup and also won the 1930 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Among the most famous Uruguayan footballers are José Leandro Andrade, Juan Schiaffino and Luis Suárez.
