The International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) is a global technology and consulting corporation based in Armonk, New York. It was founded as the Computing-Tabulating-Recording Company (C-T-R) in 1911 before taking its present name in 1924. IBM began through a merger of two earlier companies and so developed and sold a wide range of products, including punched cards, tabulators and food preparation equipment.[1] Now operating in over 170 countries, the present-day corporation offers business analytics, provides hardware and software, and develops various other technology-based solutions such as cloud computing.[2]
