Article naming conventions?
Are there any conventions for article titles for cities, subnational regions, phsyical features, etc.?
For example, Boston is the capital of Massachusetts, and a small town in Lincolnshire. Georgia is a U.S. State, and an independent republic in the Caucusus Mountains.
- Hi Anthony. There are some guidelines here at CZ:Naming Conventions (Georgia is one of the examples given) and in relation to geographical articles, there is some discussion ongoing on the forums, here. Regards, Anton Sweeney 15:47, 7 May 2007 (CDT)
- I think that the title of page for countries, cities, etc. should be its local form (even though the article is written in English and probably will use the English name), with redirections from the English name (and name variants, if applicable). Has this been discussed? Peter Schmitt 19:00, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
Just for fun I just started Compass as a base for what I am sure will be a larger article - since I am not a geographer but a lowly palaeoanthropologist I would appreciate if someone could go and take a look and correct any errors etc. Many thanks in advance.
