Hello,
I am a Computers Author over at the Citizendium project
(http://citidendium.org). Put simply, Citizendium aims to be "a better
Wikipedia than Wikipedia."
I'm writing to ask if I can use your "Linux Distro Timeline" in the
Linux distribution article (located at
http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/Linux_distribution)
I see that in the image you state "Feel free to modify and spread,"
however that really doesn't qualify as an "official license" that we'd
like to see attached to the image if I uploaded it. If you approve of me
using it, your response can go onto the discussion page of the image
after it's uploaded.
Thanks for your time and the awesome timeline,

Hey I uploaded your image and whatnot. They're saying over at
Citizendium that the image isn't legal with just your email address (yes
I know the email address matches the image, I pointed that out too).
Here's what one of the constables over at Citizendium is saying:
"Eric, we need a real name for "npu" or this image has to go. We have no
idea if really has the ability to do anything with that image and his
real name is the core needful thing in the matter. Free images are not
free unless legal and nothing legal nor free has transpired without a
real name. Stephen Ewen"
I understand your possible privacy concerns... if you choose to put your
real name over at kde-files.org or reply with it then I'll add it to the
image talk page located at
http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/Image:Linux_distro_timeline.png
If not, I understand, but the image will probably get deleted :(
Thanks for replying in the first place,
and sorry to have possibly wasted  your time,
Eric

Eric,
My real name is Andreas Lundqvist and you're free to publish it under
that name if you want.
Oh, almost forgot, I just finished a new version the other night
available at http://nonplusx.wordpress.com (or kde-files.org as
usual).

Email dialog between Eric M Gearhart and the image creator

My original email to "npu"

Hi there Eric,

Thanks for asking -- you're free to use the image in any way you want.
More exposure will probably lead to more feedback, (hopefully) meaning
more accurate data in the timeline. So thank *you*. :)

My response asking for his legal name

Thanks for replying in the first place,
and sorry to have possibly wasted your time,
Eric

His second response

Eric,

My real name is Andreas Lundqvist and you're free to publish it under
that name if you want.

Oh, almost forgot, I just finished a new version the other night
available at http://nonplusx.wordpress.com (or kde-files.org as
usual).
