'Wasting My Time' was the first single released, from Jimmy Page's 1988 album Outrider. It was recorded in February 1987, at the Sol Studio, Cookham, Berkshire, and released on 7 May 1988 by Geffen Records in the United States and in the United Kingdom.
The song is underpinned by workmanlike heavy drumming from Jason Bonham, and sweeping minor-chord riffing by Jimmy Page. John Miles' vocals add a gruff bluesy tone. 'Wasting My Time' lyrics are about a relationship that went no-where and it's time for the parties to move on.
