I made my living as an intellectual property attorney between 1980 and 2008. I spent about fifteen years litigating patent, copyright, trademark and related causes of action in federal courts around the U.S., and another six years as in-house intellectual property counsel for the largest dry pet food manufacturer in the world. I was also a law clerk to a federal district judge. Before becoming a lawyer, I obtained Bachelor’s, Master's and Doctorate degrees in history. I taught history as an adjunct professor at several universities in the Midwest while practicing law. I am not presently teaching. However, I am now a full-time historian. My most significant interests are in the fields of nineteenth and twentieth century German and military history (including comparative military history), and I am coauthor on a series of volumes dealing with the order of battle of the German Army in the Second World War. The first volumes in that series should be in the marketplace during 2011. My other interests include Roman history, the history of railroading and railroads in the United States, nineteenth and twentieth century British history, church history, the jurisprudence of war crimes and crimes against humanity, and theology. I have several ideas for articles that I would like to write.
