I've been a 1960s child in a small town and an adult in the city. I've lived through the shift from family farms to giant grocery aisles and mass marketing. I've worked for corporations and been self-employed: for 20 years as a computer consultant and now as a writer. I've had children and seen the challenges of families and communities in our North American culture. I was the editor of a community newspaper for seven years, and got to know a lot of inspiring and hard working people who our newspaper showed as positive role models. I've seen the pitfalls of focusing too much on tasks and not enough on people. I've seen that lasting joy involves sharing life and time with family, friends and community. I have experienced the emotional, social and financial struggles that regular folks have been going through since the 1980s, yet I am optimistic about our shared future. I know what being kind can do for us, and that trying hard for each other is our way forward. My blogs, NeoPeopleism.com and MakingMoreOfToday.com give encouragement and people-focused ways to make our modern lives better, centrally by appreciating the value of others, and being intentional in making decisions that benefit people.
