I am currently 42, and I was born in Havelock, NC. Shortly thereafter, I moved with my family to Neshanic, NJ, where I spent my first ten years. I then moved back down to Beaufort NC with my mother, and upon graduating high school there, had a few odd jobs until I joined the U.S. Air Force in 1986. I was stationed at Clark Air Base in the Philippines, and at Barksdale AFB, Shreveport, LA. I received an honorable discharge in 1990, and moved back home to NC.
I spent the time between 1990 and now living in Pensacola Fla, Wilmington NC, and Marathon, Florida. While I was living in the Keys, I had two of my most interesting jobs, working at the Dolphin Research Center, and working at a resort where we took guests out to the reef for snorkling, and on sunset cruises.
I am currently residing in Southport, NC (near Wilmington). I am a huge history enthusiast, especially Civil War history and WWII history, especially in regards to U.S. Navy operations in the Pacific. I am a volunteer at the Battleship North Carolina in Wilmington, a WWII era battleship which is open for tours. I volunteer in the collections department, archiving documents and artifacts. I also give guided tours of the ship, and am a member of the ship's Living History Crew.
As a part time job, I drive for the Wilmington Trolley Company, giving guided tours of the historic district. In my off time, I also volunteer at the North Carolina Aqaurium in Kure Beach, as a member of the dive team.
When I have time leftover from those activities, I enjoy reading, jogging, kayaking, scuba diving and drawing.
