As an undergraduate at the University of California I majored in English Literature, with an emphasis in English and German Romanticism. I am currently enrolled at the same campus in the Graduate School of Education. My interests include the European Romantics, Existentialist Philosophy (from Kierkegaard onward); and the Sentimentalist movement, from Dickens to Tolstoi. I am currently composing a thesis on War and Peace and the construction of collective memory. In my research I have studied Tolstoi's texts, viz War And Peace, and criticism of his work, including Berlin's "The Hedgehog and the Fox." I have also perused myriad essays on the collective memory including Jan Assman's, seminal work. In addition to the study of classic literature, I am also an accomplished writer. During my first year at university, I won the Chancellor's Award for creative writing. I am also currently penning a graphic novel scheduled for release Spring 2008.
