I have a BA degree (Classical art and archaelogy/Music), a Diploma of Teaching (South Australia) and a Diploma of Librarianship (Wales) and am a Chartered member of CILIP (College of Information and Library Professionals) in the UK. Apart from the first seven years of teaching Music and a few short duration jobs in public libraries I have been Librarian in a number of UK private schools (Millfield, Ampleforth College, Dulwich College, Westminster School and Winchester College). Four years were spent in Italy - three as Library Advisor to the British Instititute of Florence and one as Librarian South Italy for the British Council. My expertise is mostly centred on the updating of libraries so that they fulfil a useful and ideally central role in the institutions of which they are part. Currently I am retired but will be returning to part time work at Winchester College next academic year (Sept 2008). My interests and knowledge are reflected in my degree subjects but also food, wine, constitutional monarchy in the British Commonwealth, literature.
