George William Herbert is a professional IT architect and
aerospace engineer. George has a Bachelors degree in Naval
Architecture from UC Berkeley and attended the International
Space University summer program in Kitakyushu, Japan in 1992.
In the IT field, George focuses on the design and reliability of complex systems. George is currently a Senior Technical Consultant and Practice Leader in the Infrastructure field at Taos, Inc., a San Francisco area consulting and IT services company.
George is the owner of Retro Aerospace and its spinoff Venturer Aerospace, which in 2006 competed for the NASA COTS program. George has published a handful of technical papers at aerospace conferences over the years, focusing on manned spaceflight and the exploration of the Moon and Mars.
George's hobbies include writing (fiction and nonfiction), nuclear proliferation, science fiction, sailing and boat design, bad movies, welding and metalworking. His current hobby ambition is to build and sail a small pirate ship.
