I am a technical services administrator for two small rural PK-12 public school districts in northwest Wisconsin. Due to the very small district size I am the only person managing all the technology, and as such my range of work goes from the very top as the "IT Administrator" and "Purchasing Agent" to the bottom as the "Lab Assistant".
My technical knowledge must be highly diverse since I am responsible for determining future needs, buying, installing, and then maintaining and finally replacing and correctly disposing of servers, network hardware, and classroom computers, as well as the operating systems and software used on the equipment. This must also be done while struggling with declining student enrollment and very tight budgets that usually only allow the purchase of used or off-lease equipment to do our "upgrades" while also trying to not fall too far behind the technology curve.
I have a very strong casual interest in all areas of science and technology, but especially engineering. In another life I probably would have been an inventor. If you examine my Wikipedia user page and my Wikipedia contributions page you will see that I am working to improve the content of a large number of technical articles -- many of which just don't exist yet on Citizendium.
One major project I am doing is scanning images from an old public domain engineering encyclopedia called the Hawkins Electrical Guide and integrating the images into Wikipedia articles. It is my intention to also include these public domain illustrative works into Citizendium articles.
The main reason I am interested in Citizendium is not for its article certifications, but rather to get away from the anonymous editors that screw up good articles on Wikipedia apparantly just because they can.
