The Strauss family is a nineteenth century dynasty of musicians in Vienna. In particular, it is famous for its Viennese Waltzes.

The most famous member of the family was Johann Strauss (son), the "Walzerkönig" (King of waltzes). who composed the Donauwalzer (Blue Danube waltz) and the operetta Die Fledermaus (The Bat)

A large part of the Vienna New Year's Concert traditionally consists of compositions of the Strauss family.

Note that neither Richard Strauss nor Oscar Straus (who changed the spelling of his name to disassociate himself) has a known relationship to this family.
