The UEFA Champions League aka European Cup (its former official name) is a football competition played throughout Europe. Each year, 32 of the best European clubs (qualifying through their own domestic leagues as well as qualifying matches), from 54 leagues, engage in this league-cum-knockout competition, with the winner taking home the Henri Delaney trophy. The UEFA Champions League, held by UEFA is arguably the most lucrative, prestigious and popular inter-club competition in the world. The most successful clubs have been Real Madrid CF (won 13 times), AC Milan (7), Liverpool (6), FC Bayern München and FC Barcelona (5 each).
