The Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of Saint John of Jerusalem (known colloguially as the Venerable Order of Saint John) is an international order of chivalry descended from the medieval hospitaller movement. Given royal patronage by Queen Victoria in 1888, today the order is a mostly protestant organization comprising members from around the Commonwealth and the United States. The order is also well-known through the St John Ambulance, its largest service organization. The order is a member of the Alliance of the Orders of St John of Jerusalem.
