Welcome to the Citizendium! We hope you will contribute boldly and well. Here are pointers for a quick start. You'll probably want to know how to get started as an author. Just look at Getting Started for other helpful "startup" links, our help system and CZ:Home for the top menu of community pages. Be sure to stay abreast of events via Twitter. You can test out editing in the sandbox if you'd like. If you need help to get going, the forum is one option. That's also where we discuss policy and proposals. You can ask any administrator for help, too. Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and have fun! Robert Tito 15:10, 29 January 2007 (CST)

Table of prefixes

Hello,

In your recent edit of the Byte article, you wrote that the percentages of the difference between the binary and SI prefixes are incorrect. Could you please explain to me how you obtained such a high percentage? I calculated these numbers with the formula (2^80)/(10^24) for yobibyte, and so on.

The percentage increase from 1000 to 1024 is 2.4% (or a decrease of 2.3%). You are forgetting to drop the 1 and move the decimal two places to the right. See [1] --Phillip Stewart 00:32, 13 April 2007 (CDT)
Yes, you're right. I'm glad you noticed! :) --Joshua David Williams 00:33, 13 April 2007 (CDT)
