Welcome to the Citizendium Pilot Project!

This is the home page for the Citizendium pilot project. Our aim here is to set up a functioning Citizendium wiki encyclopedia project, demonstrate that it can work, and get it ready for a public launch.

What is the most important thing that we could be doing here? Simple: work on articles. The more articles we greatly improve over the Wikipedia versions, the more viable our enterprise is going to look to the rest of the world, and the more people will join in and make it viable. The content-rich get content-richer! So please get started!

If you're new, please read how to get started with the Citizendium pilot! It tells you to use [[Category:CZ Live]] on articles you've edited, and other essential tips.

Everyone, be sure to check the Notice Board regularly! (Check "Watch this page" to receive e-mail alerts!)

Need help?

If this is your first visit, here are some tips:

• See how to get started with the Citizendium pilot
• You need to apply to join the pilot project. Please see this page. Once you've received an invitation, you should create your account, and then send an email with your account name to personnel@citizendium to activate it. We'll send you a note back that we've let you in. Note: you will not be able to confirm your email address until after this email.
• Check the Notice Board for the latest announcements, requests, etc.
• For general news, check the blog.
• If you get a weird error message, refresh the page, or do a "hard refresh" (ctrl-F5 in Windows) of the page you're trying to visit. We might still be figuring out the proper settings for caching. Sorry about this bug, we'll squash it eventually.
• For general help questions, you can always try the "Help" board at the CZ Forums. If you're to all this and have some general questions, why not go there and ask away?
• If you're still having trouble, mail personnel@citizendium.org immediately. Thanks.

Please be patient. We're fixing problems as they come up and that occasionally leads to more problems.  :-)

Citizendium is divided up into Discipline workgroups. The workgroups will take charge of specific sections. If a workgrop looks interesting, feel free to join it as an author or an editor.

Citizendium Wiki Technical Development

Important Notes

Access (including reading) is currently limited to registered users only.

The wiki software is undergoing development.

Please backup major changes elsewhere if possible and excuse us if the wiki breaks for short periods. This will be avoided if at all possible.

Latest News

We had some trouble with a database update, but it was solved.
Tech Team, 12 November 2006

Update: We are back. We spent 16 hours restoring and repairing the database after the "anonymous" account was erronously deleted. Lesson? Don't mess with Anon-y-mous.
