I don't know that the term "role-playing game" necessarily applies only to the Dungeons & Dragons style pen and dice game. Don't video games like Final Fantasy or Elder Scrolls fall simply under RPG? I would think RPG would be the broad parent topic with MUDs, MMO's, video games, pen and dice, etc, all underneath it. --Todd Coles 15:09, 30 August 2007 (CDT)

Yes. Final Fantasy, Baldur's Gate, et al, would properly be described as computer role-playing games, but seeing as there are also 'pen and paper', MMORPGs, MUDs, live-action role-playing games - it is probably best to have this page as a short general article and catalogue/disambiguation page. I've asked a few people off-wiki what would be the best term to use for the games described on the current article (including a professional fulltime RPG author) and the consensus is to call it pen and paper role-playing game. I'll sort out the moves and new article after lunch :-) Anton Sweeney 06:35, 31 August 2007 (CDT)
