A sombrero is a mixed drink. It is made with coffee liqueur (almost always Kahlua) and cream.

The inexperienced sometimes serve Kahlua and milk stirred or shaken with ice as a sombrero. This is not correct, as the cocktail gets its name from the fact that cream sits on top of the liqueur like a hat.

To make a proper sombrero, cream is poured into a small glass. Kahlua is then poured slowly through the cream, so that it settles on the bottom.
