Rebecca Gordon

Rebecca Gordon is an adjunct Professor of Philosophy at the University of San Francisco, who has written extensively on the question of whether torture can be ethically defended.[1] In 2014, Gordon published a book, "Mainstreaming Torture: Ethical Approaches in the Post-9/11 United States", on this topic[2]. She has also written on a wide variety of subjects, including opinion polling, public education and welfare reform.
Gordon received a 1975 B.A. from Reed College, and the M.Div. (2003) and Ph.D. (2009) in Ethics and Social Theory from Graduate Theological Union[3].
In 1995, she was a co-founder of the non-profit educational advocacy organization Californians for Justice[4].
