Paul Teller has been Executive Director of the conservative Republican Study Committee since 2009, rising from Legislative Director (2001-2007) and Deputy Director (2007). Previously, he was on the staff of the Committee on House Administration (2000-2001).

His undergraduate studies at Duke University were in political science; he was a volunteer in George H.W. Bush's 1992 campaign. After college, he was a research associate at The National Center for Public Policy Research, then Senior Advertising Account Executive for The Washington Times--National Weekly Edition, specializing in advocacy and political-fundraising advertising, and a faculty member for the Leadership Institute. Moving to Washington, DC, as a Dean's Scholar at American University, he wrote a dissertation on “how ideological distance between U.S. senators from the same state affects representation, ” continuing to stay active in Republican politics as advertising manager for the College Republican National Federation.
