Article naming conventions?

Are there any conventions for article titles for cities, subnational regions, phsyical features, etc.?

For example, Boston is the capital of Massachusetts, and a small town in Lincolnshire. Georgia is a U.S. State, and an independent republic in the Caucusus Mountains.

As people are creating list articles (Subdivisions of the United Kingdom, Subdivisions of the U.S.A., etc), this gets important quickly. Anthony Argyriou 13:24, 7 May 2007 (CDT)

Hi Anthony. There are some guidelines here at CZ:Naming Conventions (Georgia is one of the examples given) and in relation to geographical articles, there is some discussion ongoing on the forums, here. Regards, Anton Sweeney 15:47, 7 May 2007 (CDT)

Compass

Just for fun I just started Compass as a base for what I am sure will be a larger article - since I am not a geographer but a lowly palaeoanthropologist I would appreciate if someone could go and take a look and correct any errors etc. Many thanks in advance.
