CZ:How to Apply to be an Editor

Overview

Citizendium welcomes applications for editorship to personnel@citizendium.org. There are three tracks in which experts may apply:

  • The Academic Track
  • The Professional Track
  • The Equivalency Track

Three Tracks to Editorship

Academic Track

Editors applying through the Academic Track must hold the qualifications typically needed for a tenure-track academic position in their field. Pinnacle is they must hold a terminal degree in their academic field. This is demonstrated by:

  • Sending a brief introductory letter, an attached or linked CV, and copies of academic transcripts.
  • Sending a brief introductory letter and an attached or linked CV that includes links to reliable third-party sources that support claims.

Applicants must provide adequate evidence of claims. Official transcripts may be requested.

Professional Track

Editors applying through the Professional Track must hold a terminal professional degree in their field and have a demonstrable record of substantial work and at least some publishing experience.

This is demonstrated by:

  • Sending a brief introductory letter and an attached or linked CV or resume that includes links to reliable third-party sources that support claims of work and publishing experience.

Applicants must provide adequate evidence of claims. Official transcripts may be requested.

Equivalency Track

Depending upon their educational qualifications, editors applying through the Equivalencey Track must hold varying yet significant levels of formal work and publishing experience that tabulate to the typically expected expertise outcomes of applicants in the Academic and Professional Tracks. Applicants who should apply through the Equivalencey Track include:

  • Persons with terminal degrees in fields other than those for which they are claiming expertise.
  • Persons with Masters degrees degrees in fields for which they are claiming expertise.
  • Persons with Masters degrees degrees in fields other than those for which they are claiming expertise.
  • Persons who hold anything less than a Masters degree but who claim eminence in their field.

In the above cases, applicants must demonstrate they have achieved the typically expected expertise outcomes of applicants in the Academic and Professional Tracks through a combination of their unique academic, work, and publishing experiences.

Equivalency may demonstrated by:

  • Sending a brief introductory letter and an attached or linked CV or resume that includes links to reliable third-party sources that support claims of work and publishing experience.

Applicants must provide adequate evidence of claims. Official transcripts, if applicable, may be requested.

Starting as an Author

We welcome editor-hopefuls to begin as authors. In this case, authors may apply through their user page, and send a link to their page to personnel@citizendium.org.
