Terschelling is one of the Frisian Islands. It is also one of the municipalities of the Dutch province of Friesland. Terschelling lies between the islands Vlieland and Ameland, and has the Wadden Sea to its south and the North Sea to its north.

There are fifteen settlements on the island: West-Terschelling (capital of the island), Baaiduinen, Formerum, Hee, Hoorn, Kaart, Kinnum, Landerum, Lies, Midsland, Midsland aan Zee, Midsland-Noord, Oosterend, Seerijp, West aan Zee.

Terschelling harbour is located in West-Terschelling. It is served by the ferry services to Harlingen in the mainland Netherlands and the Vlieland island. The ships are operated by the Doeksen company.
