I was born and brought up in Syracuse, NY and graduated in 1955 from the College of Engineering at Syracuse University and later received an M.B.A from Syracuse.
In 1955, I was employed at General Electric, but soon served in the U.S. Navy in Washington, DC after graduating from Officer Candidate School.
In 1958 I joined New York Telephone and advanced through many positions in Plant Operations, Human Resources and Marketing. My last assignment prior to my retirement in 1990 was Executive Vice President - Marketing and Technology at NYNEX, then the parent company of New York Telephone and now part of Verizon. In 1982-83, I headed the Marketing Task Force (for the spun off units) for the breakup of AT&T, the Bell System. During the eighties and nineties I was listed in Who's Who. And was a member of Mensa.
Upon retirement I taught at Weekend College at Dominican College of Blauvelt, NY and established a total quality consulting relationship with over a dozen businesses and not-for-profit organizations. In 1994 I was asked to serve as the sole Deputy County Executive for the County of Rockland, NY which I did for two years (one year full time and the other part-time - and in later years, I had several pro bono assignments).
