A 1990s-vintage manpack tactical radio compatible with the SINCGARS waveform and security system, which is the basic U.S. Army infantry squad radio. It lacks the satellite and UHF/HAVE QUICK II capabilities of the AN/PSC-5; it is being replaced by more advanced radios including the AN/PRC-117 and AN/PRC-148
