Hendrik (born 1976 in Munich, Germany) studied bioengineering and holds a Ph.D. in computational biology. He is currently working as a research associate at the University of Ulster in Coleraine, Northern Ireland. His thesis is on systems biological modelling of protein interaction networks. Former work included biological fermentation, software engineering and development and bioanalytics.

He is an active amateur musician, playing the double bass, piano and guitar. He performs, composes and arranges music belonging to various styles, mostly jazz, children's music and classical.
