Pim Griffioen studied history at the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam. Together with his fellow historian Ron Zeller he published various articles on the persecution of the Jews during the Second World War in a West-European comparative perspective in scholarly journals such as Holocaust and Genocide Studies (Oxford University Press), and Cahiers d'Histoire du Temps Présent (published by the CEGES study and documentation center in Brussels, Belgium).
