Caldecott Medal

The Caldecott Medal is awarded annually by the American Library Association, to the illustrator of the most distinguished American picture book for children. In 1938 the first Caldecott Medal was presented to Dorothy P. Lathrop, illustrator of the book, Animals of the Bible. The 2007 winner is David Wiesner for his wordless book, Flotsam.
