L. Ron Hubbard (1911–1986) was the founder of the Church of Scientology, and an author of science fiction and speculative fiction, as well as Dianetics and many thousands of pages of both internally-facing and public Scientology books and documents. He wrote at least 153 stories in various genres of pulp fiction in the 1930s and '40s including westerns and pirates.[1]
