Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin (born October 7, 1952) is the former President of Russia and now current prime minister. He succeeded Boris Yeltsin on December 31, 1999. In the Soviet era he was a member of the KGB and in the 1990s he was a businessman. He is married to Lyudmila Putina, née Shkrebneva, and they have two daughters, Maria Putina and Yekaterina Putina.
