I am a writer, director, producer, and activist based in Los Angeles. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in English and Latin/Classical Greek from Wabash College. I have an M.A in English from the University of Chicago, where I specialized in 18th-century British diaries and satire. After graduate school, I wrote ads for ten years at top Chicago agencies.

In 2003, I co-founded Deep Stealth Productions with Calpernia Addams, creating numerous instructional videos. Our first all-transgender performance of ''The Vagina Monologues'' was featured in the documentary ''Beautiful Daughters.'' I consulted with Felicity Huffman and am the opening shot of the 2005 film ''Transamerica.'' I was a consulting producer and on-camera personality in the competitive dating show ''Transamerican Love Story''. I also directed the short films "Casting Pearls" in 2007 and "Transproofed" in 2009. I serve on the Board of Directors of Outfest, TransYouth Family Allies, and GenderMedia Foundation.
