Khost Province is an eastern province of Afghanistan, on the border with Pakistan. It was once part of Greater Paktika, along with Paktika Province. Its capital is the city of Khost. The province is both mountainous and heavily forested. Ethnically, it is primarily Pashtun with some Tajiks.
