Devon (sometimes known as Devonshire) is a county in south-west England.

The geographical county extends across the south-west peninsula from north to south coast. On the west it borders on Cornwall, the river Tamar being the boundary in the south. To the north-east it borders on Somerset, and there is a short border with Dorset in the east.

The administrative county does not include the unitary authorities of Plymouth and Torbay, which are within the geographical county, both on the south coast. The county town is Exeter.
