Saigon,Sai Gon or Saïgon, renamed Ho Chi Minh City after the North Vietnamese military victory of 1975, is the major urban area of Vietnam. Before the French invasion and colonization of 1859, it was called Gia Dinh.
Its Chinese section is Cholon.
