Tony Blair (born 6th May 1953) is an envoy for the Quartet on the Middle East, working to bring about a 'two-state' solution to the conflict between Israel and Palestine. Previously, he served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1997 to 2007; introducing a new "permanent campaign" style of politics, he won general elections in 1997, 2001 and 2005, the first two by landslide majorities.
